Roofing101 Introduce
For homeowners and business owners in Austin, Texas, finding a reliable and professional roofing contractor is a crucial part of maintaining a safe and secure property. The Texas climate, with its intense sun and occasional severe weather, can put a significant amount of stress on a roof over time. A dependable roofer should not only be skilled in their craft but also committed to clear communication and honest business practices. While there are many options to choose from, understanding what a company offers, where they are located, and what their approach to customer service is can help you make an informed decision for your home or business. We're providing an overview of a local business, Roofing101, to help you learn more about their services and how they operate within the community.
Based in the heart of Austin, Roofing101 aims to provide a variety of roofing solutions to meet the needs of local residents. Their services are designed to address common issues faced by Texas property owners, from storm damage to general wear and tear. A local company's understanding of the specific building codes, weather patterns, and architectural styles of the region is often a key advantage. They are part of the community and their reputation is built on the work they do for their neighbors. For many, choosing a local contractor means a greater sense of accountability and a more personal connection than working with a large, non-local corporation. The importance of local business is not just about convenience, but also about trust and a shared sense of community.
Choosing a contractor can be a big decision, and it’s always wise to do your homework. While some companies focus on large-scale projects, others are more geared toward smaller, quick-fix jobs. It's important to clarify the scope of your project and the company's capabilities from the very beginning. This helps ensure that both parties have the same expectations and that the project can be completed to your satisfaction. Reviews from other customers can also offer valuable insights into a company’s practices and customer service. Reading a variety of feedback, both positive and negative, can provide a more complete picture of what to expect. This due diligence is a vital step in protecting your investment and ensuring a positive experience.
Roofing101 is conveniently located in Austin, Texas, at 2700 W Anderson Ln., Austin, TX 78757, USA. This central location makes them accessible to homeowners and businesses throughout the Austin metro area and surrounding communities. For residents in neighborhoods like Allandale, Brentwood, and Rosedale, their office is just a short drive away. This proximity can be beneficial for scheduling on-site consultations, getting estimates, and ensuring that their crews can respond quickly to service calls, particularly in emergency situations. A physical office location provides a point of contact and a sense of permanence that can be reassuring to customers. It signifies that the company is a fixture in the community, not a temporary operation. For any local property owner, having a contractor who is close by and easy to reach is a significant advantage.
Their presence on a major thoroughfare like Anderson Lane also makes them easy to find and access. This high-traffic area is a well-known commercial hub, making it a familiar landmark for many locals. Accessibility is about more than just location; it's also about communication. Having a local phone number, (512) 265-5362, allows for direct and easy contact. For Texans, knowing that a company is based right in their backyard means they are more likely to understand the unique challenges of the local housing market and the specific types of roofs and materials common in the area. A contractor who is embedded in the community has a deeper understanding of what their clients need, from weather-resistant materials to local permitting requirements. This localized knowledge can be invaluable for a smooth and successful project.

With these guys I fell victim to the old "bait and switch."; I was very clear with my scope of work I was looking for on Home Advisor - replace rotting sections of roof fascia - simple, right? I set-up a meeting with a nice guy "Cody", and he comes over, looks around, we talk, and he agrees to give me an estimate on what I *actually* wanted done (the facia) but wanted to go ahead and provide estimates for other work that he recommended getting done. I said "OK, I'd take a look at it - but to be clear I definitely want to get the facia done." Cody said OK.The written estimate shows up a few days later with three options along with estimates: OPTION 1 - replace the entire entire roof for an extremely high-dollar amount, OPTION 2 - replace the entire roof for an expensive but more reasonable amount, and OPTION 3 - do the work I asked for. The estimate was very clear, all three were options and all three were presented as choices I could make. There was no dependency on doing, say OPTION 1, to have OPTION 3 be valid (this becomes important shortly). So I email back Cody saying I've considered the options, but want to just do the facia. When can we get started? A week goes by with no response. I send a follow-up email. Another week goes by. So I text Cody's boss, Dustin, indicating that I can't get Cody to respond. And Dustin responds...get this..."So it appears that you are curious if you can just do the facia without doing the roof?" Well, apparently Cody and Dustin are talking at least. But "curious?" Odd choice of words. So I turn right around and call Dustin. He says "the job is too small, we can't do it." I say "so this was just a bait-and-switch, huh?" "We can only do the facia if we do the roof as well" - says Dustin. "But we can put you in touch with some people who can do the facia." I told him I didn't trust him, and said "I wish you guys did business better. Thank you." and hung up.So to bottom-line it for you, these guys massively wasted my time. While my requirements were clear, they used the opportunity to try to sell me a Cadillac roof, knowing full-well that they would otherwise walk-away. They provided a clear proposal and estimate, and then walked away from it, They didn't HAVE to bid the project. They didn't HAVE to provide an estimate for it. They chose to do it, and to waste my time.So if you are looking for integrity - look somewhere else. Dustin and Cody don't have it, and neither does Roofing101.One thing I left out of the conversation I had with Dustin was that I said I'll go ahead and post a review on Home Advisor. He said "I encourage it!" Little did I know that Home Advisor doesn't publish reviews for companies where the work wasn't done. Dustin knows this, and feels pretty smug (I'm sure) about not having bad reviews on Home Advisor for this terrible behavior. Sad, truly sad.
November 18 · Eric RothfusThe sales pitch was with good intentions, the project did not get completed due to lack of materials, refund of money requested and a report to BBB.
December 29 · Wilda AdamsPlace looks good, but what happened in between was awful. Not recommended this business.
