Five-Star Review for Dennis Torres & Exterior InnovationsI recently completed a full exterior renovation of my two-story colonial in East Greenwich with Dennis Torres of Exterior Innovations, and I can say without hesitation that this was the finest experience I’ve ever had with a general contractor.From our first conversation, Dennis listened carefully to my goals and worked collaboratively to deliver a project that exceeded expectations.Being in the design and construction industry my entire career, I am extremely detail-oriented, and Dennis embraced that—never once pushing back, always working with me to ensure every aspect of the job was done right.Scope & ExecutionThe project involved stripping all existing wood shingles and clapboard siding down to the original plywood sheathing. His team then installed a new Tyvek air barrier, taped and sealed to ensure long-term durability and energy efficiency.He replaced all exterior siding with premium .046 vinyl and installed new ¾” and 5/4” PVC trim throughout. One of my key goals was to minimize the use of J-channel around trim. Dennis sourced back-cut PVC trim, which was used extensively, giving the home a clean, high-end finish.To my absolute surprise and delight, Dennis replaced my existing PVC window surrounds on the front elevation (which, per contract, were scheduled to remain) with new back-cut PVC—at no extra cost. His comment: “I want the front of your house to be a showplace—something you can be proud of.” That level of pride and generosity is rare in this industry.Craftsmanship & DetailHis foremen, Eli and James, were meticulous in their work and attention to detail. They worked with me to ensure the details at both of my entries were high quality and in line with my vision for the house.All PVC trim was screwed, glued, and plugged for durability and a seamless look. Where existing PVC was retained, his crew thoroughly cleaned all surfaces, filling old nail holes to restore a fresh, uniform appearance.He also handled the removal and reinstallation of all exterior electrical infrastructure, including new light fixtures, which I provided.Communication & TransparencyDennis provided a clear, 2-3 page scope of work and cost estimate that was easy to review. To help manage my budget, we broke out alternate packages—including an enhanced exterior trim option—which allowed me to customize the final scope. There were no hidden costs and no change orders unless I initiated them.Throughout the project, Dennis sent me photos and/or videos of progress, often checking in to confirm my understanding of specific details we had discussed. This level of proactive communication gave me complete confidence in the process.Preserving Architectural CharacterMy home had existing wood-trimmed details, including water table, belt band, fascia board and trim moldings that were important to me to retain and replicate them in PVC. Dennis understood this completely and worked with me to ensure every detail was preserved or improved. If you own a home with detailed exterior trim, trust me: Dennis knows how to replicate it in PVC at a reasonable cost without compromising character.Final ThoughtsDennis Torres is a rare find in the world of general contracting. I had Dennis and his crew take down my old deck and put up a new one with composite decking and railings last spring time. I cannot be more satisfied with the outcome.
