Weathervane Home Services Introduce
For homeowners across Massachusetts, a comfortable and energy-efficient home is more than just a luxury; it's a necessity. With our state’s famously variable climate, from cold, snowy winters to hot and humid summers, a well-insulated and properly functioning heating and cooling system is critical for both comfort and managing high energy costs. This is where a specialized general contractor like Weathervane Home Services comes in. Based in Burlington, they have positioned themselves as a key player in the home energy efficiency sector, particularly through their partnership with the Mass Save program. Weathervane Home Services is not your typical general contractor; their expertise lies in making your home more affordable to run and more comfortable to live in year-round. They focus on solutions that create a proper thermal barrier, from the attic to the basement, ensuring that the warm air stays in during the winter and the cool air stays in during the summer. While every company has its challenges and past issues to address, Weathervane’s core mission is to guide homeowners toward an efficient future, a goal that is highly relevant to local needs.
Weathervane Home Services is a company with a specific, mission-driven focus on home performance and energy efficiency. They are a certified and approved contractor for the Mass Save program, a major incentive program for Massachusetts residents. This partnership allows them to offer a variety of services with significant rebates and financing options, making energy-efficient upgrades more accessible to the average homeowner. They offer no-cost home energy assessments to identify areas for improvement, a valuable service that helps residents understand where their home is losing energy. However, it is important for consumers to be aware that the customer experience can vary, as some past reviews have highlighted issues with communication, punctuality, and job site cleanliness. It is worth noting that some of these negative experiences have been followed by updates from the customers stating that a resolution was reached. This suggests a company that, despite potential missteps, is willing to work with its clients to make things right. Their business model is built around leveraging state programs to benefit homeowners, but it is always recommended for customers to be proactive, ask questions, and utilize the full resources available to them, such as requesting a Mass Save inspector to review the work, as some customers have suggested. This level of customer engagement can help ensure that the project is completed to the highest standards and that the work aligns with the original scope.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1I would NEVER recommend this company. If I could give zero stars I would. Extremely poor communication from the very beginning, you have to chase them to get a response or update on their work. They were late on the day they were supposed to come and didn't notify me. I gave their boss clear instructions on how to lock up my house when they were done and they LEFT A PART OF MY HOME UNLOCKED AND UNSECURED despite explicit instructions. They left my driveway a mess full of insulation material, came back and claimed they cleared it and DID NOT. They later said the rain will eventually clear it, meanwhile, I had showings for this property so it just looked like crap to visitors. Then I had a mass inspector come because you are allowed to request one with mass save (I RECOMMEND DOING SO) and they explained how this company did NOT do the work correctly, and showed me how sloppy and ineffective some of the work was. I also paid the company to remove items from my attic and the inspector confirmed they did not do that either. Not to mention the scope of work that I originally agreed to was not performed, they changed it and DID NOT NOTIFY ME beforehand. And they did a crap job at that as well. It has been an extremely stressful experience. I urge you to have an inspector from mass save come and review their work if you use them because I was told that the town permit and inspection that the company gets done doesn't always require an inspector to actually come into the property and review their work, sometimes all the inspector does is review pics of the work which is INSANE.
June 09 · Jewel DouglasI had a horrible experience with Weathervane for my insulation installation. The crew arrived 2 hours after the start window. They made a mess of my house, blowing dust and insulation all over my paint supplies and leaving chunks of debris on my windows. They also scratched a window sill where the hose came in to the house from the truck. They didn’t patch all the holes they drilled in my walls and the ones that were filled had plaster slapped in that I need to repair. When I explained this to the office I was offered a $50 gift card, which is a slap in the face. That won’t cover half the paint supplies I need to replace or give me my time back cleaning up after their mess.Update: After a few conversations with Weathervane staff, we were able to come to a resolution that worked for everyone. It was a frustrating experience, but I appreciate their help in making it right.
May 19 · Gino CanellaDan completed an energy assessment of my home last month. He was thorough in his explanation of recommended services and responded to my follow up questions in a timely manner. Today, Felix and Leo arrived to insulate the crawl space which is a tight area in which to work, as well as the garage area. Insulating these two areas should help with improved heating and cooling. Felix and Leo answered any question I had and used drop cloths and barriers to protect our belongings. Their professionalism was greatly appreciated.
July 21 · Paula ThorntonSam W at Weathervane is fantastic. He quoted insulation work and a new heat pump system for me, and was a delight to work with the whole way through. He arrived promptly and was very professional, explaining what he was looking at and answering my many questions. He has also been diligent and timely in replying to my many emails, asking questions as I waited for town approval for my jobs. I highly recommend Sam and Weathervane for your home improvement projects.
